In order to improve the services we provide and also ensure that the services we provide meet the needs of our patients, we have been consulting and involving patients and carers by distribution satisfaction surveys since 2003. The project was developed in response to NICE guidance on involving users in planning, delivering and evaluating services. Satisfaction surveys were based on the national cancer patient’s survey but with input from patients and carers.
Surveys in some departments may be completed immediately whilst others may be sent out and returned using a stamped addressed envelope. The results are collated on a quarterly basis and feedback to all teams and discussed at team meetings.
